Domestic Soundproofing Costs: Price per Square Metre
At Quiet Acoustic, we believe in transparent, honest pricing. To help you budget for your project, we provide a guide based on the area of treatment. Every installation is a full-system service, which includes the supply of specialist materials, professional acoustic fitting, and a high-quality plastered finish.
Baseline Installation Rates
Our standard rates for professional soundproofing are as follows (all prices are subject to VAT):
-
Wall Soundproofing: Starting from £160 per m²
-
Ceiling Soundproofing: Starting from £250 per m²
-
Floor Soundproofing: Starting from £200 per m²
-
Pump-in Acoustic Cavity Fill: Starting from £100 per m²
Factors Affecting Your Quotation
While our square metre rates provide an excellent starting point, several site-specific factors can influence the final cost of a project. During our consultation, we will assess:
-
Project Location: Travel and logistics within London, Hertfordshire, and the surrounding counties.
-
Parking & ULEZ/Congestion Charges: Availability of on-site parking and whether the property sits within restricted zones.
-
Ease of Access: The complexity of moving high-density acoustic materials into the workspace (e.g., properties with restricted entry or narrow corridors).
-
Vertical Logistics: The number of stairs and floor levels involved; transporting heavy acoustic boards and plastering equipment to upper floors requires additional time and labour.
Why Our Price Includes a Full System
Unlike many general contractors, our price per square metre is all-inclusive of the "full system." This means we don't just add insulation; we rebuild the surface.
-
Decoupled Frames: Minimising structural vibrations.
-
High-Mass Membranes: Blocking airborne sound.
-
Professional Plastering: Every project is finished with a smooth, professional skim, leaving your room ready for immediate decoration.
Request a Formal Site Survey
For an accurate, fixed-price quotation that accounts for your specific room dimensions and access requirements, please contact our team. Alternatively, visit our Henlow showroom to see these systems in person and discuss your project in detail.
Request Your Personalised Quotation
To provide you with an accurate initial estimate, we kindly request that you provide photographs of the area alongside the approximate dimensions of the surfaces to be treated. Should our initial quotation align with your intended budget, we will arrange a comprehensive site survey for a fee of £200 + VAT. This fee ensures a technical assessment of your property's acoustic requirements; however, should you choose to proceed with the installation, the full £200 will be credited back and deducted from your final project total.
Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee
At Quiet Acoustic, we take immense pride in the calibre of our craftsmanship. To provide our clients with absolute peace of mind, all our workmanship is guaranteed for a lifetime. We stand by the integrity of our installations, ensuring that your soundproofing system remains structurally sound and effective for as long as you remain in your home.
Performance Expectations and Acoustic Realities
It is important to manage expectations regarding noise reduction. No soundproofing system can realistically "block out" 100% of external sound. While it is technically possible to achieve a reduction of up to 99%, this requires a "room-within-a-room" approach—treating every wall, floor, and ceiling simultaneously. For most domestic environments, this level of intervention is often considered overkill and can be prohibitively expensive.
Our primary objective is to deliver a significant and transformative improvement to your quality of life. When treating a single surface (such as a party wall or a ceiling), we aim to reduce perceived noise levels by 50% to 70%. This typically brings intrusive sounds down to a comfortable, non-disruptive background level, providing the most cost-effective balance between performance and investment.
